Our Image of Self Will Remain: Hearing loss matters!

A POEM by Jeffery Bostic

As we climb that latter of time things begin to change

Our image of self, money, health and quite frankly our brains

Holding on to what we can while coping with things lost

Remembering the good old days and attempting to cease the moment left

Our sense of sound begins to fade, and we contemplate our next act

To let it blow away with the wind or try to keep our hearing intact

Deciding to hear for many is quite daunting, if not haunting

worrisome to say the least

It’s a fact that without this unique ability many things begin to creep

Depression when you cannot hear as your loved ones attempt to speak

Isolation as frustration cause one so strong, to appear as though weak

Balance becomes unbalanced and life becomes more challenged

Emotions once controlled start to surface

As we climb that latter of time things begin to change

Our hearing if cared for can have huge impacts on our brains

Our image remains intact, no need to be vain

We should hold on to what hearing we can and cope with what is lost

Remembering the good old days and cherishing the ones to come

Our sense of hearing can be restored if only we choose to act

We can flow with the wind and keep our hearing intact

Deciding to hear should be at the top of our list

Rewarding to say the least

With this unique ability many things become profound

Depression has no place as we enjoy our loved one’s sounds

Motivation and encouragement as our strength is still around

Balanced and at peace tackling the next challenge found

Emotions are expressed in the purest form so dear, and you are heard, as easily as you hear!
